Drumming counts up in some areasPreliminary results suggest that ruffed grouse drumming counts are up in some parts of Northeastern Minnesota, although the counts are not all complete. Each spring, Department of Natural Resources officials coordinate the drumming counts, in which participants drive predetermined routes, stopping periodically to listen for the drumming of male grouse.
