Water circulators could soon be proposed as a method for reducing algae blooms on Lake Mitchell.
The Lake Mitchell Advisory Committee heard a presentation Wednesday afternoon at City Hall from the SolarBee company, which is headquartered in Dickinson, N.D. The company has installed hundreds of its SolarBee circulators in various types of waterbodies.
Mitchell city officials and some lake residents are pondering the possibility of lowering the level of Lake Mitchell in the fall to protect against wintertime damage to the shoreline.
The issue was discussed at a recent meeting of the city’s Lake Development Committee where, according to the minutes, “it seemed a consensus may be to recommend lowering the lake in the fall.”
