HCF makes grant to Carpenter St. Croix Valley project

The Hudson Community Foundation gave $2,000 to the Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center to enhance and develop trails at the 300-acre Hein Prairie and Wildlife Preserve on its Wisconsin campus, south of Hudson on County Road F and East Cove Road.

Visitors to Yellowstone Trail Heritage Days this weekend can follow the trail just like early auto travelers back in the 1920s. Hudson is adding bright yellow rocks to the Yellowstone Trail signage leading through the town’s residential districts.

Youth Day attracts crowd to Rod, Gun & Archery Club

The Hudson Rod, Gun & Archery Club staged its 61st annual Youth Day Saturday, April 23. The festivities included opportunities for youths to compete in archery, 22 rifle shooting and shotgun shooting.

$30K grant will support outdoor classroom and curriculum in district

The Hudson School District has received a $30,000 grant from the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board to develop an outdoor education curriculum. Hudson Middle School science teacher and Hudson School Forest project director Cindy Landers wrote the grant. She said it will be used to build an outdoor classroom and storage area, acquire field resources and equipment and construct some information kiosks. A portion will also be used for teacher training and curriculum development for all Hudson students.

A certified Wisconsin hunter education course is scheduled from 6:30-9 p.m. Thursdays, March 26-May 14, at the Hudson Rod, Gun & Archery Club. Registration is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, and that night only.
