The Jamestown City Engineer’s office is reminding people to use caution around the James River and Pipestem Creek below the dams. The warning follows an incident Saturday when a dog fell through the ice in southwest Jamestown. No other incidents have been reported, according to Reed Schwartzkopf, city engineer.
A yearling deer that made friends with a 9-year-old earlier this spring continues to make friends on the west side of Park Rapids.
But the Department of Natural Resources has also received complaints about the deer and officials are concerned it could be a public safety issue.
The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department is offering several Off-Highway Vehicle safety certification classes during July.
The goal of these classes is to educate youth (ages 12-16) in the proper operational methods. Individuals in this age bracket are required by North Dakota law to have an OHV safety certificate in order to operate an OHV on public land if they do not possess a valid driver’s license or learners permit.
