WALLEYE
Rivers good for walleyes early in spring
Although there is still plenty of ice-fishing going on, some anglers throughout the Midwest are already enjoying open water fishing. They’re on rivers, and they’re fishing for walleyes. Walleyes will eat a bait year ‘round. While they will get more aggressive later in the year as the water temperatures rise, right now can be a good time to get in on the action. The walleyes are willing to bite, they can be found in good numbers in certain areas, and it’s always fun to get the boat in the water for the first open water fishing trip of the year. Here’s how you can get in on the action.By By Bob Jensen, Fishing the Midwest , March 05, 2010

OUTDOORS REPORT: The latest on fishing, hunting success in the region
There aren’t many people fishing these days on Devils Lake, but the anglers who venture out continue to report good walleye action. Most anglers are now jigging the bridges of state Highways 57 and 20, Six-Mile Bay and the Mauvais Coulee with minnows or trolling crankbaits along sunken points and roads. Some of the better areas include the Golden Highway, the sunken road in Pelican Lake and sunken points such as Haley’s Hump, Patience Point and the Fort Totten and Cactus Point areas.By Outdoor News and Herald staff , November 13, 2009

Landing deep water walleyes
Walleye lakes come in many different forms. Some are deep with lots of structure; others are shallow with very gradual drop-offs. The lakes with lots of structure give walleyes some options. They can be shallow, suspended, in mid-depths, or in deep water. If we want to experience success, we need to find the fish. In the autumn, walleyes will be biters.By By Bob Jensen, Fishing the Midwest , October 02, 2009
