OUTDOOR REPORT: Area fishing and skiing report
Lake of the Woods Limits of walleyes and saugers are still being caught, with more tullibees and jumbo perch in the mix along the south shore, as well. Morning and evening action has been best in 15 feet of water, while midday fishing is most consistent on the mud flats in 28 to 34 feet. Some resorts have moved out to the reefs such as Knight, Bridges and Starren Shoals and found fish. On the Rainy River, walleyes are hitting in 17 to 19 feet toward the mouth of the river. At the Northwest Angle, walleyes, saugers and jumbo perch are filling buckets in 27 to 29 feet, and crappies continue to hit adjacent to deep bays in Ontario waters.

I checked with Jim Benson of Sportsmans Taxidermy Studio in East Grand Forks, Minn. and he referred me to Century Leather Products in Owatonna, Minn.
