Troll the sand shorelines in the mornings for walleyes in 7 to 10 feet of water with crankbaits or hammered gold spinner rigs. The west and east banks of Garden Island or the front of Morris Point Gap in 27 feet have been especially hot.

Trolling bright crankbaits on downriggers or lead core line has produced walleyes on the deep mud of Big Traverse Bay. Schools of walleyes and saugers are being found out from Pine Island, Long Point and Garden Island in 30 to 35 feet of water.
