June 1, 2015: CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked angling activity on the Roseau River and at the Northwest Angle. Several calls were taken regarding nuisance bears and people were advised to bring birdseed, garbage, and dog food inside until the bear left the area. A wolf depredation was investigated near Halma.

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. -- When Brian and Michelle Nelson took over the Red River Valley Chapter of Pheasants Forever in 2005, they faced the challenge of reviving a chapter in a region with no pheasants, no habitat for pheasants and no prospects for having a sustainable wild population of the popular game birds. Tall order, that. So, instead of focusing on pheasants and habitat, the East Grand Forks couple and their six kids rolled up their sleeves and went to work on fundraising, selling raffle tickets and recruiting volunteers to help them raise money for hunter education programs, youth trapshooting teams and other kids' outdoor learning initiatives.

District 8 - Duluth area: Mn DNR Conservation Officer Weekly Report
June 1, 2015: CO Andy Schmidt (Brookston) followed up on fire investigations in the area. Area lakes and rivers were worked for anglers and boaters. Boating violations continue, with PFD violations being the most common. Schmidt also reports ATV complaints were investigated.
