Whitetail buck

Maintaining healthy populations of wildlife such as this whitetail buck into the future in North Dakota is going to depend on providing adequate habitat. Duane DeKrey, the new deputy director of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, said that's going to be a challenge as more land leaves the federal Conservation Reserve Program. He said his background as a farmer-rancher will be a benefit in working with private landowners to perhaps offset some of those CRP losses. (photo by Craig Bihrle, ND Game and Fish Department)
