Winter deer

A series of three consecutive severe winters and an aggressive harvest strategy combined to reduce deer numbers and hunting success in North Dakota. As a result, the state Game and Fish Department has proposed a drastic reduction in deer licenses for this fall’s rifle season. Game and Fish is recommending 65,250 deer tags statewide, the lowest since 1992 and a drop of 44,700 from last year. (N.D. Game and Fish Department photo)
