Bass Lake Fishing Contest will be held Saturday near Somerset

The unseasonably warm winter isn’t stopping plans for the Bass Lake Fishing Contest.

The eighth annual Somerset fishing contest will be held on Saturday. Bass Lake is located three miles south of Somerset, just off County Road I.

All plans have the tournament going on as scheduled on Saturday, with registration beginning on the lake at 9 a.m. The contest will run from noon-3 p.m.

There is more than $40,000 worth of prizes available in this year’s tournament, with the grand prize being $10,000. There are 50 prizes available in the adult division. There is a kids division for fishermen 15 years and younger. There are 10 prizes available in the kids division, including a top prize of an iPod Touch.

Hole fees are $30 per hole for adults and $10 per hole for students.

All proceeds from the tournament go to Somerset youth athletics.
