A large pressure ridge formed on Fish Lake north of Duluth and rapidly flooded the surface of the lake on Saturday, said Tim Wagner, who operates Hi Banks Resort on the lake.

The pressure ridge ran east and west from Birch

Island in the main part of the lake, Wagner said. He estimated its length at 200 to 300 yards.

Some fishing houses had flooded, Wagner said, and others were at risk. Several were moved out of danger on Saturday afternoon.

With subzero temperatures in the forecast for the next few days, any flooded houses would freeze in the overflow and be difficult to remove, Wagner said.
