Minnesota’s firearms deer season

Licenses: $26 for adults (18 or older); $13 for ages 12-17; free but license required for ages 10-11. Licenses can be purchased from license agents statewide; by phone at (888) 665-4236 or online at www.mndnr.gov/buyalicense.

Shooting hours: Half-hour before sunrise to half-hour after sunset.

Weather: Lows Friday and Saturday nights in the mid-20s. Mostly sunny on Saturday with a high about 37 and northeast wind at 5 mph. Sunny on Sunday with a high about 41.

Limit: Varies by deer permit area; consult regulations.

The outlook: After a mild winter, fawn production was up. Expect to see lots of younger deer. Fewer permits for antlerless deer were issued as state wildlife officials try to increase the deer population modestly.
