SHOOTING: Devils Lake hosts North Dakota state five-stand championship

The championship attracted 47 shooters of all experience levels, and 9,600 targets were thrown during the two-day event.

Scott McLeod of Fargo shot 87 clay targets out of 100 to win the Master Class and earn the overall high score during the North Dakota State Five-Stand Championship held June 30 and July 1 at the Lake Region Shooting Sports facility in Devils Lake.

The competition featured preliminary and sub-gauge events June 30 and a 100-target main event July 1. The championship attracted 47 shooters of all experience levels, and 9,600 targets were thrown during the two-day event.

Master Class runner-up: Dan Phillips, Fargo, 82x100.

Class AA champion: Mark Sandness, Bismarck, 67x100.

Class AA runner-up: Myron Brager, Sibley, N.D., 62x100.

Class A champion: Kevin Smith, Devils Lake, 68x100.

Class A runner-up: Mitch Anderson, Valley City, N.D., 62x100.

Class B champion: Mike Collings, Grand Forks, 63x100.

Class C champion: Kevin Weber, Grand Forks, 71x100.

Class D champion: Justin Roberts, Devils Lake, 61x100.

Class E champion: Tucker Collings, Grand Forks, 50x100.

Hunter Class champion: Dean Knutson, Grand Forks, 55x100.

Hunter Class runner-up: Cole Hanson, Webster, N.D., 54x100.

Women’s champion: Beth MacDonald, Devils Lake, 58x100.

Junior champion: Beth MacDonald, Devils Lake, 58x100.

Sub-junior champion: Justin Mann, Thompson, N.D., 58x100.
