By: Herald Staff Report,

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has released the eight finalists for the state’s new Critical Habitat license plates. The options — a showy lady slipper, a northern Minnesota fishing scene, a majestic white-tailed buck, a pheasant in flight, a black-capped chickadee, a walleye, a pair of loons, and a wood duck — will be narrowed down to four. The four new plates will complement the existing Critical Habitat plates, one featuring deer and the other a loon. The DNR will consider citizen and selected stakeholder input in choosing the four winners. License plate images and a citizen feedback form can be found at mndnr.gov through March 23.
