Three generations kayaked the Mississippi last week, from the Headwaters at Itasca State Park to Lake Bemidji. Gloria Collyard and Finnegan Claypool of Bemidji and James, Carrie, Etta and Lyla Glinsek of Zimmerman, all completed the journey.
They started on Thursday, June 20 and ended at Paul and Babe in Bemidji on Saturday, June 22. Over 55 miles were kayaked for a total of 27 hours, five portages and two nights of camping. This is the second time that Gloria Collyard of Bemidji has completed the journey, her first time was 29 years ago in canoes with her son, daughter and nephew.
