Behold the power of ice.
As it did last winter, ice on Lake Osakis is again causing headaches for property owners.
The ice is pushing up on shore and taking down anything in its way, including trees, shoreline and riprap.
Homes along East Lake Street have borne the brunt of the damage from the ice heaves.
Jerry Manders at 2679 East Lake Street lost about half of a 70-foot-tall cottonwood tree and some shoreline. On the plus side, he gained a lot of new firewood.
It’s hard to know if the ice will cause further damage as temperatures climb and the wind moves the ice around.
“My guess is that it’s going to get worse,” Manders told the Osakis Review Friday.
